Male Journalist Nominated for Rising Women in Crypto Awards Despite Female-Focused Criteria

A male journalist from The Block has received a nomination for this year's Rising Women in Crypto Awards. This event is hosted by Wirex and BeInCrypto.

Tim Copeland, the Editor-In-Chief at The Block, confirmed that Timmy Shen, the Asia Editor, is shortlisted for “Best Crypto Journalist.” This award aims to celebrate female talent in the crypto space.

Shen's nomination process allows for self-submissions or nominations from others. So, he might have put his name forward, or someone else could have nominated him. Either way, he’s up against some impressive female journalists, including Casey Wagner from Blockworks, Chidirim Ndeche from Decrypt, and Guneet Kaur from Cointelegraph.

Other categories in the awards include “Best Crypto Compliance Expert,” “Best NFT Creator,” “Best Blockchain Developer,” and “Best Founder.”

A panel of judges will evaluate the nominees. This panel includes notable figures like Simone Maini, CEO of Elliptic, Elo Gimenez, Global PR Director at Consensys, and Alena Afanaseva, founder of BeInCrypto.

Voting will close on December 10, and the winners will be announced on December 13.
