LG Launches 480Hz OLED Gaming Monitor UltraGear GX7 at $999, Undercutting Sony's Price

LG has just launched its first 480Hz OLED gaming monitor, the UltraGear GX7, and it’s priced at $999.99. That’s $100 less than Sony’s similar 480Hz monitor.

This 27-inch model, known as the UltraGear 27GX790A or simply GX7, features a 480Hz panel from LG Display. It was announced earlier this January. With a resolution of 2560 x 1440 and a super-fast response time of just 0.03ms, this monitor is one of the fastest on the market.

When you compare its specs to Sony’s InZone M10S, which launched in September for $1,100, the GX7 comes out a bit cheaper. However, keep in mind that it doesn’t include some of the advanced performance modes or variable refresh rate features that you get with Sony’s model.

Right now, you can preorder the UltraGear GX7 on LG’s US website. But, there’s no delivery date mentioned yet, and you can’t add it to your cart for checkout. We’ve reached out to LG for more details and will update you if we hear back.

This monitor supports both Nvidia’s G-Sync and AMD’s FreeSync technologies. These features help reduce flickering and screen tearing while you game. Plus, it has a DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification, which means you’ll enjoy a wide color gamut and deep black levels. It also comes with an “Anti-Glare and Low Reflection” coating, perfect for bright rooms.

In terms of connectivity, the monitor includes HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 2.1, USB 3.0, and a headphone jack. It also features a slim stand that’s height-adjustable, tilting up to 15 degrees and swiveling up to 30 degrees. This flexibility allows you to find the perfect viewing angle for your gaming setup.
